Week 10 again delivered, with a major surprise for the Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
This outcome could have created opportunities for the New England Patriots to move back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes Miami had ten days to get ready but it was still a significant failure produced by one of the league's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but running back Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two scores
Containing the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Additionally there were the three crucial turnovers, and the pair from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine-minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the New England, they're among three 8-2 squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the top team?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts really for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their total twenty-four victories coming against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Denver
Denver beat the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their prime time win in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight victories, just like the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to prepare was huge
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly deserves point for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his side to success
The defensive unit is reliable and rookie rusher Henderson exploded on game day with 147 yards and two exciting scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to break 22mph this year on his first score
Although you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the best record thanks to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also compete for top seed but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the schedule
The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There's a long way to travel but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Clash
Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three 8-2 sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who both scored forty points to reach seven and two before next week's major meeting between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with top receivers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a contest
Both could realistically be without a loss as well - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick blocked and run back by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 yards, scoring three touchdowns and adding another forty-two {receiving yards
