Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The song features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The group managing the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
