Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
