The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Police Press On With Hunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in the recent mass shooting on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies online, remarking: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our city”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official reported to the media outlet.

Law enforcement that searched the inn found two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, friends, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
