Trump Invites Families of Shot Military Soldiers to the White House

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the government to suspend asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
